Repair Cafe

Do you have something that isn’t working? Don’t toss it—bring it to the Repair Cafe! At our pop-up events (about 4 per year), our team of volunteers will assist you in troubleshooting and help you repair your broken item. Keeping items in service longer reduces waste and avoid the energy and resources used to create replacement items.

Anything you can carry in (except computers and cell phones) is fair game: lamps, hair dryers, toasters, clothing, bikes, furniture and toys are examples of what we can help repair. The Repair Cafe “fixers” have the experience to advise, assist and teach you how to carry out the repair. We can even repair some items that are no longer manufactured. If we find the item is not repairable, we will offer advice on where to recycle it. Since 2018 our skilled volunteers have saved hundreds of items from the landfill.

Sign up for the Transition Kamloops newsletter to learn about upcoming Repair Cafes, or keep an eye on the Repair Café Kamloops Facebook page. Repair Cafe Kamloops is an initiative of Transition Kamloops. We gratefully acknowledge the City of Kamloops Climate Action Grant we received in 2023.

We’re always welcoming new volunteers, so if you know someone who is helpful and handy, please get in touch! We also would love more help with event organization, social media, and staffing the registration table at events. Click on this video to get inspired!
