Kamloops Seedy Saturday 2026

Kamloops Seedy Saturday aims to empower people and provide a fun and enjoyable event celebrating local food, seeds, food security and food sovereignty. Seeds are available for purchase from local seed growers, as well as available by donation or free from a variety of local community groups. We have awesome community groups attending who focus on food access, and food production, along with some of our regular market vendors. There will also be hands-on art making and creative space in collaboration with the Stínesten Gallery and the Kamloops Art Gallery.
Entry for this event is free, but donations are welcome and appreciated with proceeds going to fund food security and sovereignty programs at the Mount Paul Community Food Centre.
Food production, even on a small scale, is impactful! Growing strawberries in pots on a balcony or herbs in a windowsill can enhance a recipe, increase sense of self-worth and provide hands-on experiences with plants and soil systems. Eating in season, highlighting local products to purchase, and creating stronger bonds among our community members is what the Kamloops Regional Farmers Market and the Mount Paul Community Food Center want to nurture.
The first Seedy Saturday event in Canada happened on Feb 14, 1990 in an effort to raise awareness and push back against increased seed saving restrictions and the concentration of seed production to a handful of corporations globally. The well being of our community relies on a resilient, sovereign, and just local food system. Come out and support local farmers, food producers, connect with local groups, and join us in creating it.
