We’re thrilled to announce the return of our beloved Repair Café event! 🛠️ On Saturday, May 25th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, we invite you to join us at Heritage House (Riverside Park) for a day of community, sustainability, and skill-sharing.
What’s the Repair Café all about? The Repair Café is a unique gathering where residents come together to repair, reuse, and reduce waste. Our skilled volunteers will be on hand to help fix a variety of items, from bicycles to household appliances, woodworking projects, and even clothing. Whether it’s a wobbly chair, a dull knife, or a favorite pair of jeans with a tear, we’ve got you covered!
Event highlights:
- Bicycle clinic: Bring your bikes for a tune-up, flat tire repair, or chain adjustment.
- Household appliances: Got a toaster that won’t toast or a lamp that flickers? Let’s troubleshoot together!
- Woodworking: Our talented woodworkers will mend furniture, frames, and other wooden treasures.
- Knife sharpening station: Dull knives/garden tools? We’ll help you get them a razor-sharp edge.
- Clothing repair hub: Seamstresses and tailors will mend seams, replace buttons, and patch up holes in your favorite garments.
Why repair matters:
- Environmental impact: Repairing items instead of discarding them reduces the strain on our landfills and conserves valuable resources. It’s a small action with a big impact.
- Community building: The Repair Café fosters connections between neighbors, as people share stories, skills, and laughter while working side by side.
- Empowerment: Learning basic repair skills empowers individuals to take control of their possessions and extend their lifespan.
