Action Fest: the Safe Bike Parking Edition!

Bringing together business reps and cyclists!

It’s a mini Action Fest—focused on one topic!

The lack of secure bike parking infrastructure at cycling destinations like retail areas has consistently been identified as a barrier to more widespread adoption of cycling in Kamloops. Transition Kamloops and the Kamloops Cycling Coalition (KCC) are teaming up to try and change that!

We are bringing together key stakeholders—including representatives from the business, health, and tourism sectors, the City of Kamloops, and, of course, cyclists—to create a plan for improved bike parking in Kamloops. If you are a cyclist or a business representative, we would love to have your perspective at the table.

Objectives for the day:

• To build a shared understanding of the benefits of providing secure bike parking and the challenges when it is lacking,
• To use a design-thinking approach to explore potential solutions,
• To reach consensus on the list of priorities, and
• To agree on next steps to be taken, and by whom.

The event will be held on April 18 from 10 am – 2 pm at the Kamloops United Church (421 St. Paul St). A light lunch will be provided. Seats are limited and pre-registration is required. Reserve your spot now!
