Community Investment Coops (CICs) are a new and innovative support system for rural and urban economic and business development that effectively bridge the gap between local investors and local ventures in need of financing.
Gordon Borgstrom, the Executive Director of SIBAC/BC Rural Centre will explain the Community Investment Coop model and discuss how and whether this model is right for Kamloops. Passionate about rural development and rural communities, Gordon has over 30 years of experience in various aspects of community development.
Cooperatives are “autonomous associations of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically-controlled enterprise”.
