Fresh lettuces for sale at a farmers' market

Local/BC food sources

Your food has a carbon footprint too! It’s called a foodprint. Eating locally grown fruits and vegetables saves fossil fuels used for long-distance transport. There are other benefits too – local foods will likely be fresher with great taste and plenty of nutrients. Additionally it supports local farmers and keeps dollars in the community.

Aim to buy food that is locally or regionally produced, at least in BC, if not closer.

Our team member, Sam, has visited many Kamloops grocery stores to assess them for selling local or BC products and source labelling of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Here is his table of what local foods Kamloops stores have to offer.
