Calculate your Carbon Footprint
How much carbon do you put into the atmosphere? Members of our Climate Action team, Sam and Ron, set out to test five carbon footprint calculators. They chose the Climate Hero calculator.
There are several things they liked about the Climate Hero calculator:
- It addresses food waste, which most other calculators do not.
- It’s very simple to use and doesn’t require the user to do much digging.
- Despite its simplicity, it’s very thorough and accounts for many factors. Whether or not this compromises the accuracy, it definitely provokes more thought into how one is living and how to change.
We recommend that you take the test!

Your food has a carbon footprint too! It’s called a footprint. Eating locally grown fruits and vegetables saves fossil fuels used for long-distance transport.
Shrink Your Carbon Footprint!
The two biggest impacts you make on your personal carbon footprint are what you eat and how you travel. Here’s a great study, done in 2017, that quantifies emissions reductions for individual actions we can take.

A plant-forward diet, which focuses on consuming predominantly plant-based foods while minimizing the consumption of animal products, is increasingly being recognized as a crucial step toward mitigating climate change.
