Let’s Talk—two city projects for your input

The City of Kamloops Let’s Talk website provides a convenient way for the community to engage with city staff and Council about upcoming projects and issues. Speaking up about projects that affect you, whether to ask questions, answer a survey, or attend an information session, is also an effective way to make staff and Council members aware of your concerns or to clarify your understanding of a project.  For any projects coming down the pipe, it helps us all to understand and participate in the engagement process, especially to influence any details that may need changing.

The City announced two engagement opportunities earlier this month: updates to the Building Bylaw, which may affect, among others, homeowners doing renovations; and, continuing work on Tranquille Road coming this summer, primarily to continue sewer line upgrades but accompanied by significant design changes that will impact property owners along the route. There are in-person information sessions for each coming up on January 22 and 23, 2025, respectively.

Modernizing the Building Bylaw

Date & time: Wednesday, January 22, 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Location: McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre, 1655 Island Parkway
Who should attend: builders, developers, contractors, trades, suppliers, and any homeowners considering renovations, improvements (including solar panels) or landscaping
More information: Let’s Talk, Modernizing the Building Bylaw

This is a drop-in session to learn more about the key changes proposed in the building bylaw update. Building staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Tranquille Road Sanitary Main and Road Enhancement Project, Phase 3

Date & time: Thursday, January 23, 5:30  to 7:30 pm
Location: Sports Centre Lounge, McArthur Island Sport And Event Centre, 1665 Island Parkway
Who should attend: residents and business owners in the area, specifically Crestline Street to Southill Street, others who use the route
More information: Let’s Talk, Tranquille Road, Phase 3

This is the first information session for this project, also an informal drop-in format. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn preliminary details about the project and ask questions about the project design and known property impacts.

Note! Engagement for these projects doesn’t include surveys. If they will affect you, you can ask questions at the session or on the Let’s Talk pages at the links above.
