Kamloopsians had a chance to grill candidates from all parties at last night’s election forum. About 120 people came out to TRU’s Clock Tower Theatre to hear the candidates’ views on climate and nature. Many thanks to CBC’s Doug Herbert for an amazing job of keeping things on track.
In case you missed it, here’s the video:
The first forum was for the Kamloops Centre candidates. Kamal Grewal (NDP), Peter Milobar (Conservative) and Randy Sunderman (Green) were all present, sharing their thoughts on the eight prepared questions as well as a wide variety of audience questions. The issue that drew the most attention was fracking.
The second forum, for Kamloops–North Thompson, was held immediately afterwards and featured Maddi Genn (NDP) and Tristan Cavers (Green). Conservative candidate Ward Stamer had confirmed his attendance but didn’t show up (no explanation was offered).
We didn’t get to all the questions that were submitted in advance by audience members, but some that were missed in the first round were asked in the second forum.
We’d love to hear your takeaways from the forum. Did you get the information you needed to inform your vote? What surprised you? Please share your thoughts by submitting a comment.
