Political problems might be beyond our capacities, but at least we can fix your toaster on election day! So, before or after you vote in the provincial election on Saturday, October 19, bring your broken household items into the Repair Café.
Our fixers will welcome you and your gear from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Hal Rogers Center in Upper Sahali (2025 Summit Drive, by Albert McGowan Park). Feel good about saving stuff from the landfill by keeping useful items in service longer. And learn how things work! 🛠️.
Also, we’re putting out a call for help. Are you regularly on your computer and have experience administering a Facebook page or creating social media graphics? Our team of volunteers collectively have a great set of skills but we are looking for someone who has social media skills to keep our web presence and Facebook page up to date. It’s not a huge time commitment as we typically host 3-4 events per year. Please email us if you would like to contribute to the Repair Café in this way.
As some of you may be aware, Sheila Park, one of our original volunteers who was the “go to” person for sewing repairs passed away recently. She will be sorely missed not only by the Repair Café team but also by all the other organizations where she generously volunteered her services. When Sheila became unable to attend our in-person events due to health issues, she stayed active behind the scenes and ran our Repair Café Facebook page. She was an amazing woman whose energy and good humour will be missed.
