In the spirit of Earth day, Transition Kamloops is excited to announce the upcoming Repair Cafe event which aligns perfectly with this year’s theme: Planet vs. Plastics. By repairing items, we not only give them a second life but also support the global movement to reduce plastic waste entering our landfills.
Kamloops residents can their bring their beloved but broken items for free help to diagnose and repair them. The event will take place on Saturday, April 20th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Heritage House, located in Riverside Park (100 Lorne Street).
The Repair Café promotes repair as an alternative to throwing things out. Kamloopsians are invited to bring their broken items from home — be it furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, or textiles. (Sorry, but computers and cellphones are not accepted.)
Our team of experienced volunteers will be available to assist you in troubleshooting and assist you in repairing your item if possible or direct you on where to find the parts the necessary parts.
We encourage everyone to join us April 20th for a day of repair and reuse. Every repair saves resources and helps our planet. Together, we can make a difference—one repair at a time.
Since 2018 our skilled volunteers have saved hundreds of items from the landfill.
The Kamloops Repair Café is an initiative of Transition Kamloops, a local not-for-profit dedicated to building a more resilient community. The Repair Café is supported in part by a City of Kamloops 2024 Climate Action Grant to help Kamloops achieve its Climate Action Plan.
DON’T TOSS IT, BRING IT TO THE REPAIR CAFE!
