You wanted us to do it again, so we’re listening! Consider this your official invitation to a day of learning, brainstorming, and building connections as we work to strengthen our community’s resilience!
Saturday, January 27
10 am to 2 pm (Lunch provided)
Kamloops United Church
421 St. Paul St, downtown Kamloops
Our first Climate Action Fest last April got rave reviews.. and the ripples from that day are still being felt in our community, with seven local initiatives ongoing and two completed.
Transition Kamloops, the Kamloops Food Policy Council, and the Kamloops Naturalist Club are teaming up again to organize this one-day workshop. Our fingers are crossed that we’ll get some new “seed funding” for the action projects too.
The leaders of the original action projects will share updates about their successes and challenges. Come ready to join an action team, or pitch your own idea for a project youโd like to help lead!
Climate action projects may relate to renewable energy, local food, sustainable transportation methods, or other ways to either reduce carbon emissions or prepare our community for the impacts of climate change.
There will be a short presentation on community-based social marketing to help action teams identify barriers to success and and formulate plans for effective initiatives.
Please be prepared to attend the full day. A light lunch will be provided, so please register in advance. Contact us with any questions.
We know that collective action is needed to create change on the scale that is required. Climate Action Fest 2.0 will empower you to be part of the solutions!
Note: Parking for several hours downtown on a Saturday can be a challenge, although the parkades are free! Alternatively, please plan to take the bus, get dropped off, or make carpooling arrangements.
The organizers gratefully acknowledge the City of Kamloops’ financial support. A Social and Community Development Grant will cover the costs of putting on this event and also provide seed funding for this year’s action projects!
