Kamloops Climate Cafes and Transition Kamloops are organizing a rally for the Global Day of Climate Justice on November 6 in support of the COP26 negotiations taking place right now in Glasgow, Scotland. Join us at 11 am at Stuart Wood School Field in downtown Kamloops to show your support for urgent climate action! (Share our Facebook event!)
Currently, the biggest threat to humanity is the ever-escalating consequences of climate breakdown, which we are witnessing daily and increasingly on both a local and global level. In British Columbia and Kamloops, this summer brought an unprecedented heat dome that shattered temperature records by up to 6 degrees Celsius, killing people and damaging wildlife populations. As well, wildfires destroyed towns, and killed and displaced people across the province.
Around the world, people are mobilizing to speak up for Climate Justice on Nov. 6. Here in Kamloops, people are invited to take action, voice their concerns and let our politicians know that we want strong climate leadership and action.
At this event, there will be speakers, as well as an opportunity for individuals and local leaders to sign a pledge supporting strong action for tackling the climate emergency, and for participants to plan for next steps, in Kamloops, to address the climate crisis.
Organizer Margaret Huff has said, “We know that the citizens of Kamloops realize the seriousness of the climate crisis, we know that people of Kamloops want to see strong action. We invite everyone who supports change to come out to this event.”
“Scientists have told us, we are down to the wire. We need to act now. Let’s work together and make our voices heard!” says organizer George Johnson.
Right On…I’ll be there.
