. The Kamloops Chapter of the BCSEA is partering with the City to host a 2 for 1 event — that’s right – TWO great topics in ONE evening! First off will be a discussion on the City’s Airshed Management Plan, with a chance to provide input. Secondly, we’ll get a sneak preview of the draft plan being prepared on how the City intends to meet its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. Everyone is welcome to attend. More details on both presentations are given below.
The first presentation will highlight the Airshed Management Plan planning process, the pollutants, policies and programs that will be considered in the plan development, and ways in which the public can get involved, provide feedback and learn more. Attendees are invited to provide input at the time of the presentation, or they can email their feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the City of Kamloops website to fill out the survey. Particpants are also encouraged to register for the City’s workshop on March 14th, or read the background document: http://www.kamloops.ca/environment/airshedmanagementplan.shtml
Amanda Fjeld, Energy Management Coordinator for the City of Kamloops, will then speak on the City’s plan to meet its targets regarding its own corporate emissions. Building from the integrated nature of the Sustainable Kamloops Plan, the Sustainable Energy and Emissions Management Plan has five key commitments that align with the diverse goals and objectives outlined in the Sustainable Kamloops Plan. In this presentation she’ll go through the framework of the plan which covers the following:
1. Identify Current Energy Needs and Emissions Profile
2. Reduction Opportunities and Planned Actions
3. Carbon Offset Credit Opportunities
The presentation will expand on some of the reduction opportunities and planned actions that have been proposed in the plan and how they will ultimately steer the City towards carbon neutrality.
