Food Policy Council Update

Kamloops Food Policy Council has been having a great summer – with a successful Public Produce launch of our newest garden on Elm Street. And, we were successful in receiving $45,000 over a 3 year period for our Gleaning Abundance program from Interior Health Community Food Action Initiative. We will tell you more about our latest projects at our KFPC meeting Wed Sept 11th at 5 pm at Mount Paul United Church. And, please hold the dates Wed Oct 16th and 23rd at 5 pm ( Mount Paul United Church) for a 2 part meeting to help KFPC move forward on Governance. This means to review how we operate, our board structure, working committees, non-profit status and basically how best to structure ourselves as we move forward with all our community projects and partners. farm2chefs — a day to sample fine local foods!

Do you want to find out more about which foods are available locally?  Do you want to taste the best that our area offers?  Check out this message from the Thompson-Shuswap Chef Farmer Collaborative! Join us for our first annual fundraiser August 7, 2011 at Thistle Farm. We take over a farm for the day, invite the public, and let our chefs show off the best of what our farmers/producers offer. Chefs create tasty one-bite dishes. Local wineries and breweries pour the finest of beverages. Enjoy live entertainment and children’s activities. The public gets to interact directly with our membership. Money raised goes towards the TSCFC Grant, available to farmers and local food security groups.
